To say our last day of preparation went according to plan would not be entirely accurate. Our food arrived just in the nick of time (big thanks to Vested Food Group) but we did leave Bath a tad later than anticipated. Collecting the motorhome should still have been a breeze before they went home but we didn’t bank on doing the last 12 miles at 3 mph.

Just as our stress levels were starting to subside, the real issues started to appear. Ben’s father spotted two nails embedded in one of the van tyres and the pressure was very low. We worked out how to get to the spare only to find that that too had a big nail and no air. These things we can fix though.

The major blow for Ben was the news that our physio had been admitted to hospital for tests. We were both concerned for our team member and worried that we didn’t really have a fallback position for this eventuality.

As we have breakfast in the fog less than a mile from Lands End, the mood is good however.  Those of you with physio/masseuse friends up and down the country are encouraged to contact them and ask them if the fancy helping out an aching cyclist as he passes.
